Friday 7 July, 10am – 4.30pm
Egg tempera was the primary painting medium of the Middle Ages before the invention of oil paint and is still used in Orthodox Icon painting today. It is a mixture of pigment and egg yolk creating a bright, durable paint. In this workshop participants will learn how to make and apply the paint to a surface and the properties of different pigments. There will also be a chance to add gold leaf to create a small painting from selection of images provided by the tutor.

There will be an optional one hour tour at the end of each day (4.30-5.30) around the chateau.
